2012 ford focus coolant leak driver side

I'm having to add coolant to my car every couple of days. My cousin
(Dealership Mechanic) replaced the hose for me. My brother in law looked
under the car on Thanksgiving day. He said that to him it looked like the leak
was coming from a seal on the CV shaft which confuses everyone. Any advice
appreciated!

Hi everyone.

So my engine coolant has been leaking (slowly) for a while. And I’ve noticed that the drivers footwell is soaked in an oily type substance… could these issues be linked? If so is there an easy fix?  Or is it a garage trip and probably a rip off?

I have a 2012 petrol Ford  focus zetec.. 1.6.

thanks in advance

That black plastic t-housing has a rubber gasket that fails. It's kind of a pain to get to but it's just 4 bolts and any parts store should have them. They're typically called thermostat gaskets even though that's not what it is.

I replaced the water outlet and the problem was fixed.

Well the part itself is like 30 bucks from ford. I got it quoted at a mechanic and they said it’ll be $500 for them to replace it

Why is my car leaking coolant from the driver side?

The leak that you are seeing could be from a coolant hose that is either loose or split. Also the coolant leak could be coming from a core plug (freeze plug). The best way to track a leak is to put coolant dye into the radiator, drive the vehicle for a couple of miles, and then pressure test the system.

How do you detect where a coolant leak is coming from?

Look for signs of coolant leakage—a light-colored residue or stain—around the radiator cap, on hoses throughout the engine compartment (check the ends where they are clamped to other components) and on the radiator itself. If it looks like a hose is leaking near a clamp, try tightening the clamp with a screwdriver.

How much does it cost to fix a coolant leak on a Ford Focus?

The Best in Auto Repair The average cost for a Ford Focus coolant reservoir replacement is between $210 and $232. Labor costs are estimated between $48 and $61 while parts are priced between $162 and $171. This range does not include taxes and fees, and does not factor in your specific model year or unique location.
