2015 nissan altima ac compressor control valve location

I own a 2013 Nissan Altima S I live in Texas and it’s always
hot. And of course my a/c is out. I’ve had the compressor
condenser, cycling switch, o rings and the low pressure
Suction line all changed out. The guys at the shop are
bummed out and clueless to what it could be. I’ve spent
to much money on this and can’t afford the dealer fee.
Anyone have suggestions?

I just did this and it solved my AC problems and I'll bet it would solve 99% of the complaints here.

I really think I have this same issue in my 14. It’s not cool until I’m driving. How did you find that soleniod? When I call the dealership , they don’t have that part, they only sell the entire compressor.

From what I can tell the SL and SV models compressors have the RCV solenoid where the Base and S models dont. I guess its part of the auto climate system the SL/SV's have and its likely the SV/SL owners with the most ac complaints due to this part failing.

Nice to own a trim level that doesn't have a solenoid with the potential to fail.

You can go through autozone for $84, I went the ebay route.

Mine came in from autozone yesterday. I’m gonna see if it works.

How long ago did you replace the solenoid and is it still working?

2014 Nissan Altima owner;

My A/C keeps losing coolant. I'll have it refreshed with Dye and it'll work for like two weeks, and then I'll get in it one day and it'll just all be gone. The mechanics cannot find the dye anywhere.

Now I have a hypothesis that it's this solenoid causing the leak. It's been a while, but I think I started noticing loss of A/C after changing the climate control.

Did anyone else have a similar issue, or was it just blowing hot air at lights?? Because I would go back to the mechanic and they would tell me that there's no coolant in the system.

It's an interesting theory but surely you would see dye down there, have you checked?

So I've had MY mechanic look it over twice; didn't find anything.
I've had a friend of the family look it over with his dye equipment; didn't find anything.
Finally I took it to Nissan, who charged me $150 to tell me they couldn't find it either.

I think you're right that you would see dye coming out of where the solenoid is; others have mentioned the Schrader valve, and now I am really curious if that's it.

It's super weird, and I have no idea what I should be looking for; Maybe I do need a new compressor??
I'm just starting to feel like I am crazy because it's definitely leaking coolant somewhere, but every time I go to a shop they tell me the same thing; "Oh, it's just empty, we filled it up, drive it around for two weeks and let us know"; thanks for your money!!. It's frustrating.

Came here to post this video and my positive results and found this thread. I've been having AC issues for so long and even after purchasing a new compressor. It was a $100 new compressor from eBay and I figured it was just bad, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of removing it to send it back as it was working okay. I suspected the compressor control valve in the beginning, but could not source the part nor were there discussions about it online. I recently found this video and a few others outlining the issue. I got the valve from an eBay seller and replaced it on Friday afternoon. I charged the system and air was blowing pretty cool after the first 12 oz. of refrigerant, then 40 degrees once fully charged. I guess it turns out the eBay compressor came with a faulty compressor control valve.

As for the issue with not finding dye/leaks in the system, perhaps there is a leak from the evaporator core. Maybe look for some dye in the moisture drain tube under the car. No matter where it's leaking from, you should see some UV dye.

Why is my AC not blowing cold air Nissan Altima?

The most common reasons a Nissan Altima ac isn't working are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. You may not realize there's a refrigerant leak until the air conditioner stops blowing cold.

Why is my Nissan AC not cold?

There are a number of things that could be causing your compressor to malfunction, including a failed A/C clutch or cycling switch, a blown fuse, contamination from worn parts inside the compressor, or low refrigerant caused by leaks.

What does a compressor control valve do?

The function of the valve is to balance the pressure of the fluids moving through the system by controlling the angle of the swash plate. This keeps the evaporator at a constant temperature slightly above freezing to maximize the auto air conditioning system operation.
