May 16, 2020 Has anyone else had this issue. Just noticed this on my 2018 GC. The display screen is starting to delaminate. See photo. It is not a crack, it looks like layers are separating (delaminating). Will they have to replace the whole unit or is the screen separate???

Yes, mine is also delaminating at the upper left corner. My local dealership just ordered a replacement unit under warranty. Did you get yours replaced yet? Joined Dec 18, 2010 · 3,256 Posts

Sep 4, 2020 ^^^ Yep got mine replaced last week (under warranty still). Took a few weeks to arrive but I had sent photos to the dealership to avoid an extra trip. There was a code on the invoice said replaced "UNDER SOR 997163*". So I am assuming they musta gotten a bad batch of them or a more common issue. The new WL Grand Cherokee is reported to have
the display separate from the radio part so that would cut down on screen only replacement costs by a lot since they had to replace the whole radio unit in mine. '18 GC Trailhawk, '06 Commander, '98 TJ Sport Joined

Mine is also doing that. Glad to hear that it is covered under warranty and that I am not the only one. '18 GC Trailhawk, '06 Commander, '98 TJ Sport Joined Jul 20, 2020 · 33 Posts
Get yours in under 3yr/36k warranty, or if you have an extended plan. This is a known issue. Joined Apr 19, 2018 · 5,088 Posts
One more thing to worry about as i'm getting close the the bumper to bumper mileage expiration. Joined Dec 18, 2010 · 3,256 Posts

They had to keep my GC overnight to check out the sunroof but was told the radio swap would normally be an hour or two type of thing. Gotta love those minivans for rentals.... LOL

Perhaps consider purchasing a mopar extended warranty. Joined Apr 19, 2018 · 5,088 Posts
Perhaps consider purchasing a mopar extended warranty. Don't have the Mopar ext. warranty but got two others including a platinum plan with one of them. Joined Oct 22, 2013 · 960 Posts

Mine started as well months ago. Unfortunately i got the UAQ as a replacement for my 2015 GC in order to have CarPlay.
And this is the screen I received:
Eventually the delamination will begin to affect the digitizer layer ( the touch sensitive layer ) and the radio will begin to act crazy as if you were touching randomly the screen which is my situation now... Joined Aug 27, 2011 · 34 Posts
Mine started last month. Service advisor knew exact issue when I called, said radio has been on back order because there have been issues. Only took about 2 weeks for the new radio to come in and day to replace.

seemed to be more of a matte. Let's hope this one does not delaminate over time. Hope yours arrives soon! Joined Oct 22, 2013 · 960 Posts
