Audi a4 b6 1.9 tdi mods

  • #1

Hi all, I'am new in this forum. So the title says everything. I need help from you guys to help me improve the power of my Audi engine. So I'am thinking about bigger turbo, sport k&n air filter, sport remus exhaust, bigger front mounted intercooler. But I don't know exact name of turbo and intercooler. Also I'am afraid that my diesel will not survive 200bhp so should I add new pistons and new crankshaft? And will my engine will need remap? And what else do I need bigger fuel pump or somthing else? Pls help me to tune my little beast.

Thx for help.

What year is your car ? engine code ? do you want 200whp or 200bhp.

  • #3

The PD115 gine (is this what you have?) isnt the best engine to start with, but those mods will get you 200 crank bhp, and the engine will be fine. You will need the PD130 or 150 injectors, otherwise 180 crank hp max, and yes a remap for sure.
Just make sure everything is serviced and in order before you start.

its 2001 audi a4 b5 But i'am not sure is is 115hp or 110hp, and what is difference between whp and bhp?

  • #5

110 would be a ve motor , AFN.

115 would be a pd motor.

both have different ecu's, fuel systems ect..

whp is bhp at the wheels .

bhp is at the flywheel before losses at the trans.

Look in your log book (or a sticker in the wheel well) there will be a three letter engine code. Like AFN, ATJ, AJM, AVF,AWX etc.
There are lots of codes designating what gearbox you have, your suspension type etc but look for one like above.

Crank hp is what the engine produces. It's what the manufacturers quote. Wheel hp is what the wheels see (there are losses through the transmission). Ultimately wheel hp is more useful and measured on a rolling road.

Well I'cant find my log book so lets speak about modifications for both 115hp and 110hp engines

  • #8

They're very different, you need to know what it is. Take a photo under your bonnet for us, or look for sticker in wheel well

Found it, it is 115hp engine

  • #11

First thing to do is change the engine
I've heard it's weak but others with experience of this engine can chime in. Weak head gaskets and rod/piston pins I recall? Cam issues too?
But get a bv43 turbo, some pd150 injectors (I assume the injectors are swappable) and remap!!! Job done!

OK, what about front mounted intercoolers? And what about new pistons and crankshaft? And also there will be another project for my brothers audi a4 1.9 tdi with 110hp What do you suggest for that engine?

  • #13

for the 110 motor copy whats in either of our signatures .

  • #14

Ok, now about intercooler, what is the best and what pipes do I need? Also will that new turbo will fit the hole of my old in and out exhaust holes?

  • #15

You need to read more....
Intercooler will be custom mount, buy some pipe bends and have a go.
If you want 200bhp I'd say sell your car and buy a pd130. Very cheap way of getting this power.

  • #16

no experiance with tthat turbo so couldnt say.

u can either get a upgraded smic/ twin rs4's , or go for a large frontmount. pipes are easy on a a4 b5 , its basically 4 90 bends and some straights.

ok, so I decided to switch my audi to my brothers 2000 year a4 with 110 hp engine. He will sell my audi and will a4 b6 for himself. Now that I found all pipes, intercooler, filter on ebay I need to cnow which turbo do I need for this engine and what injectors would be good? Also do I need change gearbox or clutch?

read the topic here about k&n filters ..

you dont need a gearbox , a standard LUK clutch will hold upto 300ftlb

go onto darkside developments , they sell nozzles and can balance them onto bodys.

he also does turbos.

Ok so I have made a list of parts which I need for my 110hp ve engine: BV43 turbo, k&n filter, bigger front mount intercooler, new pistons, new crankshaft and a lot of pipes. But what about injectors does pd150 fit to ve engine? Also do I need to upgrade my fuel pump?

you dont need a new crank or pistons for 200 crank hp.
And K&N filter will ruin your MAF, it gives no gains.
No PD injectors are different, you need bigger nozzles on your current injectors.

  • #21

well I want new crank and pistons because I think that they are not in very good shape

  • #22

Hiflo-x .240 nozzles mounted properly and set up on your injector bodies, email this guy

http://www.project-power.co.uk/

He sells them. You'll be looking about £300 for them all fitted etc and ready to go but worth every penny in my opinion because you'll get your moneys worth for sure.

Either the PD115 or the VE110 will be fine for 200bhp though although being biased I'd go with the 110 lol.

What makes you think the crank etc is not very good?
