Seems like no one else on the Internet has talked about taking apart one of these portable vacuum cleaners. Gotta start somewhere. I'm trying to replace the battery on mine and I can't figure out how to remove the old battery. I'm usually good with tools taking things apart and figuring things on my own. I even took apart my iPhone to change the battery without any problems. But this one beat me. Seems like something has to pry off as there aren't any other screws I can remove beside the two on the side panel. If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it.

Here's a link so you know exactly which model I'm referring to

Thanks Tommy for pointing this out. However, I just realized Black and Decker really screwed up with those instructions. They are completely wrong for the models they list on that book so they don't apply for this vac. First of all, there are no 7 screws holding the assembly, there are 5. Two of them are quite obvious but the other three are well hidden and there is a trick to discover them. This is why I could not disassemble the vacuum last night. But in the end, I was able to figure it out on my own and I removed the battery. The only set of 7 screws I saw were on the nozzle, but the nozzle is irrelevant for battery removal because it is detached. There are other steps missing from the instructions and others are unnecessary so I believe they screwed up and pasted a paragraph from the wrong model. shame on them! Anyway thanks. I will post more detailed instructions on how to remove these batteries when I get a chance.

Sorry that I can find those instructions on how to take apart the B&D Pivot Vac 18v. I have the same problem, but when I start to get physical with the equipment, I need to ask for help.

HOW is the Pivot Vac 18v disassembled to change the batter?

Tx --- Will

Hello mveras,

I am struggeling with the same problem with this B&D dustbuster. I read that you solved the puzzle.

Can you please share?

Depress the button release for the rotating arm. While depressed rotate the ring by the motor. It exposes more screws.

I strugged as you did getting this think apart. It wouldn't charge because it got discharged too much, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't a bad wire. Anyway, I can't get the swivel push button to work, i may have lost a small part. I have the long pusher and the triangle pivit, but seems like the long pusher rod isn't long enough. Do you remember if there was a 4th part to this mechanism. (Button, triangle pivot lever, pusher rod, ??)?

By the way, i was able to get the batter charging by using an old style IBM Laptop charger (t40 style) with the smaller socket.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for.

How do you change the battery in a Black and Decker Dustbuster Pivot?

Step 1 Battery. ... .
Remove the two 10 mm screws from the motor casing with a Phillips #1 screwdriver. ... .
Pull the battery cover up and then slide it away from the motor to remove. ... .
Remove the battery unit by pulling it out of the main body..

Where is the battery on a Black and Decker Pivot Plus?

Step 3 Battery Locate the battery and remove it from its slot at the end of the drill opposite the motor. It should be at the butt of the drill by the handle.

Why is my Black and Decker vacuum not charging?

Check the charging cord to make sure it is not damaged and it is correctly attached to the charging base. Make sure the switch is in the Off or "O" position. If the charger is working properly it will be warm to the touch. Make sure you have charged the unit for a minimum of 16 hours pre-November 2014.
