The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at UCF offers two undergraduate degree options: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Both programs are designed to provide students with a strong scientific foundation that leads to employment in a variety of entry-level careers in health and human services or to graduate study in speech-language pathology, audiology or related disciplines.

Students engage in coursework related to speech, language and hearing development and disorders. In addition, a bachelor’s degree in CSD is the most common pathway to graduate education in speech-language pathology and/or audiology. A master’s degree is required to practice as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and a doctoral of audiology degree (AuD) is required to practice as an audiologist.

The mission of the Undergraduate and Master’s programs of CSD is the preparation of professionals qualified to provide independent professional diagnostic and therapy services to individuals with a wide range of communication and swallowing needs in a variety of settings.

Welcome to the website of the University of Central Arkansas Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders.  The Department offers Bachelor’s (BS) and Master’s (MS) degrees.  We have faculty who are clinically certified and licensed in the State of Arkansas.   The majority of graduate faculty hold doctoral degrees, and their expertise encompasses the breadth of speech-language pathology specialties. The Department is located in the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences on the UCA campus in Conway, Arkansas, a dynamic college town of approximately 60,000 that is home to three institutions of higher learning.

The Bachelor of Science program prepares students for graduate study in speech-language pathology and related disciplines such as neuroscience, cognitive science, special education, and linguistics.
