This is my first credit union experience and I'm so happy that I chose them. Everyone there is wonderful and makes sure you have/understand everything you need before you leave. I have had no problems with them charging any fees for anything but the membership. No different than a low-rated bank; Not worth switching to! Fees for paying bills and they even charge you fees for transferring money between multiple accounts! show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Checking Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union ashersavagex3 Report Abuse 1 Star Rating HORRIBLE bank. Had a fraudulent charge cause my account to overdraft. I contacted the company that charged my account and they promptly refunded me. Next I called Georgia's Own to ask them to reverse the overdraft fee but hey refused even though it was a fraudulent charge that caused the overdraft. My account was at $0 when the charge happened because I was already planning on canceling my account with them. Now I'm negative $35 and can't cancel the account until I pay them $35 for a fraudulent charge that wasn't my fault! This is just one of the several reason I'm done banking with them. Another being that it takes 2 hours to speak to an actual human and there's no way to contact your local branch, its all 1-800 numbers that make you listen to the same automated messages over and over. Bank elsewhere. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Checking Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union regina_flynn Report Abuse 1 Star Rating Have been a member of DOCO since 2001, excellent experiences, which got sold to Georgias Own. I own a small business which deposits everyday. Troubles began with overdrafts when money in account. It progressed to access credit card statement being removed from dashboard, to now card holds do not equal correct amounts, payments rejected even though money is there, with no explanation, transactions vanished from online screens to reappear days later. I have to take screen shots to prove the gaslighting. I am moving my money to a safer institution. If I gould give negative stars I would. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Checking Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union georgia4clay Report Abuse 1 Star Rating I received a pre-approved letter for a consolidation loan due to my " excellent credit and payment history." Visited my local branch to apply since I was already considering applying for this type of loan. Not only was I denied but no one bothered to notify me of the denial even after I left a message inquiring about the status. I decided to apply for a loan offered through a Credit Karma affiliate. I was approved within minutes and had the money in my account within 2 days with an interest rate 2 points below what Ga's Own "pre-approved" me for. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Personal Loans Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union m2566frerking25 Report Abuse 1 Star Rating I have been a customer of Geogia's Own CU (formerly known as Georgia Telco CU) for over 40 years. I have seen them go from being a great place to bank for most of those years to being dreadful today. I have quite of bit of money on deposit with them and I am in the process of gradually moving it elsewhere and closing my accounts with them. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Savings Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union Charlie Pearsall Report Abuse 1 Star Rating They have really changed as far as helping out loyal customers. I have financed a automobile along with a personal loan and never missed a single payment on any of these including my credit card. Now suddenly they're automatically charging a Monthly service fee but the thing that's really disturbing is I applied to receive a personal loan to have my vehicle repaired and during this time with the economy down along with some health issues one would have thought with my excellent payment history that I would be helped but unfortunately it's not the case. I'm not mad just disappointed. So once I get back on my feet I think it would be a wise decision to take my business and money to another Company that would be more active of helping loyal companies that earns interest and profit over the plans and loans like I mentioned earlier. This is very unfortunate. However business is business and loyalty and helping customers is not much a factor it's just yes or no without any other solutions or alternatives. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Personal Loans Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union vijaybchakilam Report Abuse 1 Star Rating Can we please have a negative scale as well? I am sure there must be a few good people working in here because clearly these guys are still in business and it should be hard to continue being in business with the incredible level of sloppiness and mediocrity I have experienced working with this company! Has anyone ever had to close "three" times? And still not done? Yep, apparently they chose me to play this game. They charge fees for transactions for no reason! I guess they are scamming like banks now. Beware of fraudulent charges! They basically told me, yes you didn't do this but we're charging you anyway. I've been a customer for many years but I'm closing my accounts. show more show less Product: Georgia's Own Credit Union Checking Comment 2 0 colette80smiley You are absolutely correct. They charged me overdraft protection fees and I didn't go over on my account. Next, this credit union supposed to discuss with their members rather or not if they want these services debited from their account when they become a member but not this unethical credit union. They just take what they want out of members account and try to get away with it or just think members are too stupid to realize what they are doing. show more show less Comment 0 0 Georgia's Own Credit Union colette80smiley Report Abuse 1 Star Rating Words can't even express how completely disgusted I am with this credit union. It is taking everything in me to try to resolve the issue I have with this unethical credit union in a professional manner but you just don't take money out of people's account the way this credit union is doing. I can't even look in these people faces anymore because they are disgusting people that tell lies. I encourage people to bank at places that have your best interest at heart when you have money to put in your account and when you face tough times because that is when you know if you have a honest, caring, trustworthy, bank because people show you their true colors when things get tough. Don't even have policies and procedures in place UNETHICAL!!!
