Equipped with a backlit digital display, the GCO16CNA Combination Explosive Gas and Carbon Monoxide Alarm takes the hassle out of monitoring CO and explosive gas levels in your home. The display gives you an easy and clear readout of current and peak levels, allowing you to discern patterns that indicate potential CO, methane and propane leaks from an appliance, a generator, or other source.

This gas and CO alarm is easy to set up and doesn’t require any wiring. The compact, low-profile sensor plugs into an AC wall outlet without obstructing other sockets and comes with a line cord for versatile placement options. The alarm also features a 9-volt backup battery to help ensure continued operation in the event of a power outage. A pivoting, easy-to-access battery drawer allows you to replace the battery without dismounting the alarm.

For added convenience, the alarm can be configured to work with almost any standard household remote control (not included), so you can remotely silence false alarms. A one-touch silence/test button makes it easy to test the detector or mute it during a false alarm. Thanks to the end-of-life warning, you will know when it is time to replace your alarm.

1.0 out of 5 stars Failed in Less Than 60 Days - If it Worked at All.

Honestly, Do any of these alarms work? Unfortunately, the only way to really find out is if you have a gas leak or carbon monoxide present. if it works it's great and you'll be singing it's praises but if it fails, hopefully, you will not suffer injury and will be around to let others know of it's failure. This one failed it's first test. It failed to alarm during a gas leak.
I purchased this alarm in December 2016 after having a new vent-less space heater installed in my living room/den. One of the gas line connections leaked and wasn't discovered until the next day. I began shopping then for a carbon monoxide detector with a gas leak detector.
I decided on this model and purchased and installed it according to the enclosed recommendations.
Less than one month later I came home from work and the entire house smelled of propane, every single room. I called a technician who found a leak inside the heater. The propane smell was strong and very noticeable after leaking into a closed home all day, however the First Alert Alarm didn't detect the leak.
The detector was installed, as per instructions and in the same room as the heater and it didn't alarm-not once. It's been installed less than 60 days and it doesn't work. I tested the alarm at installation and every
week as indicated but it failed to alarm when needed. I even took the alarm down and placed it near the heater where I was smelling the propane the strongest, while waiting for the technician, and it still failed to alarm.
I now wonder if it ever worked or would have worked if it had been carbon monoxide instead of a gas leak. It certainly gave me a false sense of security.
1.0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT DETECT PROPANE GAS!

Put battery in and plugged in detector. Tried the test button and the alarm sounded. Decided to let a little propane out of the stove top for a real test. Had the detector right next to the burner and let enough gas out that my wife could smell it in the next room and the detector did nothing. This was on propane, maybe it works with natural gas. The label says it detects propane and NG. Don't let this detector give you a false sense of security.
1.0 out of 5 stars Eats batteries, difficult to mount horizontally
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on 11 July 2019

All of the pictures show the unit horizontally which is how I want it plugged in, but the cord management provided is meant for installing the unit vertically.
If you want to mount it horizontally, there is no space for the attached power cord to go!
Also, I thought the battery was for backup purposes in case of a power failure, but I'm replacing batteries 3 times a year on two units - I purchased in 2014 so have five years of experience with this now. Conveniently, the low battery beeps always go off in the middle of the night! I've always kept them plugged into an outlet full time, so don't know why these units are so hungry for batteries.
1.0 out of 5 stars Does not detect natural gas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn’t work

Don’t even try, I bought 4 different brands and models to give a try (my family life will depend on them). This is the only one that being in the stove with gas open, never sound. Very disappointing. All other 3 brands work fine. I thought that a known brand will be the best, bot with this product was not the case.
