A Breeder's Choice Guardian Home is a unique co-ownership plan designed to keep the breeder's "pick of the litter" for line breeding while the qualifying applicant places the dog in their home as the forever family at a discounted price.

What is the objective of the breeder?

The breeder will maintain AKC full registration for showing (if applicable) and breeding the dog to maintain the breeder's line.  The breeder is responsible for the cost of genetic testing,  OFA clearances, dog show registration fees (if applicable) any vet bills related to reproduction and spay/neuter at the time of retirement.  At the age of retirement ( typically age 6 for a female) the dog will be given full ownership to the guardian home family.  We feel that it is much more beneficial for our line breeding dogs to have the individual love and attention from a family they deserve vs living in an overcrowded kennel environment.

What is the responsibility of the Guardian?

The Guardian seeks to provide a puppy with a loving forever home and also support the breeder’s breeding needs through the Guardian Home Program

The qualifying guardian home Is responsible for puppy/dog socialization and training, routine vet exams and vaccinations, monthly Heartguard/ Frontline treatments as well as any vet bills as a result of illness or injury in their care.   Most importantly your Love and attention.

What is the benefit to the qualifying applicant?

As a qualifying guardian home you get the "pick of the litter" at a discounted rate (usually 1/2 of the full purchase price) and the dog stays with you as your family dog for the life of the dog and we retain breeding rights for a set time period.

We offer guardianship for males and female Great Pyrenees, Bernese Mountain and Great Bernese Mountain Dogs.  Each gender and breed is subject to their own unique rules for the plans of the dog selected to carry on their line.   Males have a much simpler guardian home contract, but may last longer.   A detailed contract will be implemented for each individual guardianship.

Qualifying applicants must live within 30 minutes or Minneapolis/ St. Paul.
