When you get a gift card from someone, they typically tell you how much is on the card. That said, sometimes people forget to add that detail. FAQs
Say you have an Amazon gift card—a physical one—and you want to check how much money is on it. Typically, you simply enter the code online and the full contents of the card get added to your account’s Amazon gift card balance. As such, it’d make sense that the full amount of the gift card when purchased is its balance. It isn’t like you can spend part of it (unless you take it to an Amazon Go store).
However, what if you have a physical card and don’t even know its original balance? If someone gave you an Amazon gift card without telling you how much is on it, you must get in touch with Amazon customer support and tell them that you want them to “find the balance of a gift card without redeeming it.”
