How do you wire a ring doorbell

You'll go through a few steps when you set up the Ring Pro Plugin.

  • Step 1: prepare the installation of the doorbell
  • Step 2: mount the Ring Pro Plugin
  • Step 3: set up the Ring Protect app and place a cover
  • Step 4: test if the doorbell works

For the installation of the Ring Pro Plugin, you need a few things:

  • Smartphone or tablet
  • Screwdriver (included)
  • Drill
  • A good internet connection at the door

Step 1: prepare the installation of the doorbell

Put the power adapter near the socket where you want to place the doorbell, but don't plug it in yet. Run the power cord from this spot to the location of your doorbell. You can easily fix this power cord in place with the included clamps. Mark the drill holes in the spot where you want to mount the doorbell. You can use the mounting place of the doorbell to measure these holes.

Step 2: mount the Ring Pro Plugin

Do you place the Ring Pro on a concrete or stone wall? Drill holes in the wall and place the included plugs. Afterwards, screw the mounting plate of the doorbell in place. Connect the ends of the power cord to the rear of your Ring Pro. It doesn't matter where you place each color, but keep in mind that the wires hang downwards. Gently put the wires back in the hole and screw the doorbell tightly onto the mounting plate.

Step 3: set up the Ring Protect app

Now that the Ring Pro hangs in place, you can plug the connector into the indoor socket. If you don't have a Ring account yet, you can create one. When you activate your account, you can add the doorbell in the app. Do so by scanning the QR code on the side of the doorbell. Afterwards, the app will guide you through the rest of the steps of the setup. After scanning the QR code, you can place the cover of your choice over the doorbell.

Step 4: test if the doorbell works

In the Ring Protect app, you can connect the doorbell to your home network. If the doorbell has an internet connection, you can test it by pressing the home button. You'll receive a smartphone notification when the setup is complete. In the app, you can set up your personal preferences and connect your doorbell to Alexa, for example.
