Our Verdict

If you're looking for a pour-over coffee or tea kettle that has accurate temperature setting and easy pouring, you should know that this model suffered in comparison to its gooseneck competitors. That being said, this model is still better at these tasks than the pitcher-style kettles and it has a standout user interface.

Our Analysis and Test Results

The OXO BREW Adjustable is a mediocre gooseneck kettle that offers continuous temperature settings, temperature holding, and a streamlined design. While this model is significantly better suited to pour-over coffee and tea than pitcher-style kettles, its bright spots pale when compared to the higher-end gooseneck models.

Boil Time

Like most kettles in this review, the OXO reduces boiling time to a snap. This model will bring four cups of 57° F water to 201° F (the boiling temperature at our elevation) in just 4 min, 3 sec. That's well below average for the class.

Pouring

Our pouring analysis consists of two tasks. One is the ability to quickly pour water in a controlled fashion. The other contrasting task is slow, controlled pouring. Gooseneck kettles excel at the latter. However, of the gooseneck models in this review, the OXO offers the least amount of control. On the other hand, this is the swiftest pouring gooseneck of the bunch.

Ease of Use Features

The OXO provides users with a number of ease of use functions. Foremost of these is the ability to select the temperature in a continuous range from 104º - 212º F. The unit will also hold the temperature set by the user, however, this is a default function as the unit lacks the automatic shut-off feature enjoyed by much of the competition. Finally, the reservoir has both a minimum and maximum water level marker and a built-in timer.

Value

The definition of value varies from one consumer to the next. Here at GearLab, we think a product has value if it offers more performance than its peers for approximately the same amount of money. Or, in contrast, the product offers equivalent performance for less money. The OXO does neither of these things. As such, we do not consider it a great value.

Conclusion

The OXO BREW Adjustable is a so-so gooseneck kettle. Its temperature settings are inaccurate, it provides the least amount of pour control, and it doesn't offer much in the way of savings. If a gooseneck machine is what you are after, it is our opinion that you could do better by looking at other gooseneck models in our review.
