50 ST CROIX/KATAHDIN CROSS EWES, 1-6 YEARS OLD & 30 ST CROIX/KATAHDIN CROSS RAMS

WINNING BID: $700 PER EWE

These 1- to 6-year-old ewes are from our friends at Piedmont, Missouri which is 35 miles from Popular Bluff, Missouri. They also have 35 yearling rams for sale. They got their seedstock start from us many years ago and have done very well with them by following our management practices.
Our friends now have breeding stock available for sale. The owners have followed our management practices with their flock from the very start.
These St Croix/ Katahdin cross sheep have never been wormed, no hoof trimming and broke to hot wire for paddock rotation. A very nice clean set of ewes and rams. This is a great opportunity for someone to start out with a low maintenance sheep operation right from the start. If you have lots of weeds and thorny brush on your farm, these hair sheep will clean all that stuff up for you while giving you lambs every year to sell!
We can arrange trucking if needed.

Sheep grazing new silvopasture area that was full of sprouts. They cleaned them up!   We have never wormed our St. Croix sired sheep since we started with them 16 years ago. To create a parasite resistant herd, only ewes that demonstrated resistance have been allowed to stay on the farm. This culling process was extremely tough on our initial flock. Once all parasite resistant ewes and rams were identified, we moved forward building our flock.

St. Croix Rams

These are the toughest sheep you will find anywhere in the US.

Green Pastures Farm St. Croix-sired ewe lambs are raised solely on forage. There is no hoof trimming, no grain, no weaning, no shots or worming and minimal hay. These sheep are broke to hot wire and being moved every 2 days. They are extremely aggressive foragers towards brush, weeds and anything with a thorn on it. They are our primary tool for controlling woody sprouts in the numerous new silvopasture areas that we are developing across the farms. Our sheep even prefer to forage for their food through heavy snow.

Grass finished Lamb For Sale

Lambs raised at Green Pastures Farm are 100% forage finished. Lambs are naturally weaned by their mother on pasture. They are moved every two days across our various farms behind electric polybraid. They get a high selection of numerous plants ranging from tree leaves, weeds, clovers, various grasses, weeds, vines and anything with a thorn on it. Due to their small mouth they are extremely efficient at removing leaves that are inaccessible to our cattle. Grass finished lambs are sold at 100-120 lbs live weight, hanging weight is 50-60 lbs. Email for pricing.
