The falling leaves drift by my window lyrics

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Autumn Leaves Lyrics

The falling leaves
Drift by my window.

I see your lips,
the summer kisses,

Since you went away
the days grow longer
And soon i'll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
Since you went away
the days grow long
And soon i'll hear old winter song
But i miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Frank Sinatra Lyrics

"Autumn Leaves"

The falling leaves
Drift by the window
The autumn leaves
Of red and gold

I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I'll hear
Old winter's song

But I miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall

This song was adapted in English from a French song "Les feuilles mortes" in 1947. Johnny Mercer from Capitol Records came up with the lyrics while waiting on his porch for Capitol's publishing exec, Mickey Goldsen, who would drive him to a train station.

Yves Montand and Irène Joachim introduced "Les feuilles mortes" in the film "Les portes de la nuit" (1946).

Jo Stafford was the first artist to record Johnny Mercer's version in 1950.

Edith Piaf performed two versions of this track (in English and French) on the radio program The Big Show in 1950.
