Rick and Morty take on silly 90s-style superheroes

Season 6 returned with a spectacular, balls-to-the-wall episode of fourth wall-breaking and comical meta-commentary. After that, the promise of more “classic adventures like season 1” seems to have been a misdirect. But the upcoming “Analyze Piss” could just deliver the old-school antics we need, in which the titular duo takes on cheesy 90s supervillains. Aware of being stuck in a ‘Previously On’ spiral in “Full Meta Jackrick,” Rick and Morty were dragged through the show’s opening credits on a bug called Previous Leon before entering a hole in the fourth wall.
Here they encountered a buff New Testament Jesus and superheroes named after story conventions, like Miss Lead, Mr Twist, and Rhett Conn (who could alter past events in seconds). Luckily, dead scholar Joseph Campbell was on hand to help them escape this Meta Layer back to their reality.
After all that crazy, who can predict what might happen in…errr, “Analyze Piss.” But that title is clearly a pun on 1999 mafia comedy Analyze This, and the promo shows Rick pulverizing a character dubbed “Cookie Magneto” and lamenting “90s-style goofball supervillains”. So you can be sure that the show’s writers will be having heaps of fun at that decade’s expense.
