Dark Magician deck isn't a fast deck. It's a control fusion deck with a slow tempo and gives little chances for your opponent to get an opening on you.

Try and take control of the board early by summoning a Dark Magician onto the field.

Send a Dark Magician to your GY using Magicians' Souls then special summoning it from the GY using Eternal Soul. Using Eternal Soul will make your Dark Magician become impervious to spell and trap effects, helping him last longer but, on the downside, if Eternal Soul is removed, all your monster cards are sent to the GY.

Magician’s Rod is an important in this deck. The card can be used to constantly draw the exact spell card you need, letting you use Dark Magic Attack and Dark Magic Circle when necessary. It also allows you to revive Dark Magician from your GY to your hand giving him even more return power.

When you play Dark Magic Circle, special summoning a Dark Magician will give you the option of banishin one card your opponent controls off the playing field. This will give you the ability to constantly resummon Dark Magician while offering you a really strong removal potential.

With a Dark Magician on the field, you can cast The Eye of Timaeus and fusion summon a Dark Magician the Dragon Knight. With its relatively high ATK, it has the added bonus of protecting your back line from being targetted nor destroyed by card effects.

Eventually, your opponent will get familiar with the strategy of using Dark Magic Circle repeatedly to banish another card. Here's where Magicians' Combination comes in. It provides you with more options and variety to bring Dark Magician onto your field. Plus, you can use it to counter anything.

Though Dark Magician Decks in general are pretty strong, they don't usually have any strong finishers to help you end the duel quickly. But that's where Amulet Dragon or Accesscode Talker come in. Amulet Dragon has the effect to banish any number of spell cards in either graveyard, gaining 100 ATK per spell. While Accesscode Talker can choose a Link Monster it was linked with and it gains. So using Effect Veiler, Link climb to Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians and use her to revive Effect Veiler again, and use both of them to Link Summon Accesscode Talker and choosing Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians will give your Accesscode Talker 5300 ATK

This is your main combo to get Dark Magician out onto the field early. Use Magicians' Souls to send a Dark Magician to the GY and use Eternal Soul so Special Summon it onto the field.

Another Dragon Fusion, this time summoning Dark Magician the Dragon Knight. With a Dark Magician on the field, you can cast The Eye of Timaeus and fusion summon Dark Magician the Dragon Knight. It's a useful monster that protects your spells and traps from being targeted and destroyed by card effects..

With a Dark Magician on the field, you can cast The Eye of Timaeus and fusion summon Amulet Dragon. Use it to banish as many spell cards in both players' GYs to give it an additional 100 ATK for every spell card banished.

A strong finisher for your deck. Use both Effect Veiler and a Dark Magician to link summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians. Use her quick effect to summon Effect Veiler back from the GY and use both of them to Link Summon Accesscode Talker. Target Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians and now you have a 5300 ATK Accesscode Talker.

Droll & Lock Bird	Somewhat a budget Ash Blossom & Joyous Summer but with its own downsides. You can trigger its effect whenever a card is added to your opponent's hand, sending it to the GY, stopping any and all new cards to be added to both player's hand for that turn.
Twin Twisters	Another quick spell that can aid in taking down back row cards. Works in lieu of having Solemn Judgement.
Transcode Talker	Transcode Talker can be used in lieu of Accesscode Talker in a pinch. Both it and the cards it's linked to get an additional 500 ATK.
Prohibition	A budget Called by the Grave. But may be more useful in some ways as it's not limited to just monster cards.

Going with a deck similar to a Blue-Eyes Deck may be the way to go!

Blue-Eyes Deck List and Card Guide

	Royal Decree
	A card that seals the effects of any and all Trap Cards, limiting the options of your opponent for summoning Dark Magician. But a double edge sword since you won't be able to use any other trap cards as well.
	Imperial Order
	This basically nullifies all Spell effects on the field. Again, limiting the options your opponent has in summoning Dark Magicians onto the field. However, you will need to pay an upkeep of 700 LP every Standby Phase or else the card will be destroyed.
	Twin Twisters
	For a simple quick fix, using Twin Twisters will help you get rid of 2 spells/traps on the field at the cost of discarding 1 card.
	Prohibition
	Basically naming a card like Dark Magical Circle, Eternal Soul will stop them from working moving forward. Though they won't work on cards already on the field, you can quickly get rid of those using something like Twin Twisters.

Dark Magician Decks rely on various ways of getting Dark Magicians onto the field.

Using a combination of spells and traps to stop those summons from happening will quickly put the duel in your favor.
