Overall the product works just fine. I don't know it came like this from factory or they didn't pay attention to detail but where you screw it into the door, it wasn't threaded at all. Had to go to harbor freight and buy a tap and dye set to make threads. Have pictures of old and new product side by side. Left is new unthreaded Holes and right is old. But still works

The first day I picked up my 2006 BMW 325i from the dealer (used with only 17,000 miles on it in 2008) in Germany, I had to drive it back to Naples, Italy with an overnight stop in Milan. We had reservations to see "The Last Supper" at 4pm and needed everything to go right to get there in time. The drive was fantastic. I was loving driving my new BMW through the Alps, looking at the lightly snow covered mountains, driving on the famous Autobahn! What could go wrong?

We pulled into the parking lot outside the church in Milan and were able to park the car only steps away from our destination. My 2 friends and I had only a couple of minutes to spare, but we had made it. Then I hit the "lock" button on the car and.....nothing. The door locks wouldn't go down. I tried frantically to make them go down. Fearing that I would lock myself out of the car completely (and not knowing that there was a key in the fob....thanks for explaining that dealer) we decided just to risk it and leave all of our possessions in the car unlocked. In Italy. Ugh....

Fortunately it all went well. The dealer eventually replaced the drivers side mechanism and things were fine for a time. Ultimately the passenger side went too and I left it that way for a while. Finally, I got fed up and decided to change it myself.

The job requires some intermediate mechanical skills and a fair bit of research. If you aren't comfortable taking the leather door panels off the inside of your car door (and have the tools to do so) or with some loosening of some serious looking mechanics in your door, then this isn't for you. The part, however, worked exactly as advertised. Don't worry about the notes about things not being threaded, that either wasn't a problem or the screws self thread into the plastic as you tighten them. There are lots of little connectors and wires, etc. that are a little tricky and require small hands.

You need to make sure that the pole that actuates the actual lock lever is seated properly in the actuator mechanism. I remember it being tricky and you may need to move a small plastic piece from your old one to the new one if you break it / can't get it to work. Overall, this part did the trick and was a perfect fit for my 325.I hope it works for you.

Worked perfectly in my car.

I own a 2008 M5 and this was for the right front door ,it’s a perfect fit and like all other regulators all you have to do is make threads to the mounting holes , really it’s no big deal , after installation my door works perfect, great perfect fit

The only deceiving aspect is that somewhere in the amazon add, it read "genuine BMW".
I should've known, as really genuine in other websites were more expensive by 25% or so.
This door actuator was installed by an independent repair shop and it appears to be working fine.

Installed this in my 2006 BMW 330i to replace a worn passenger front lock solenoid. The unit physically fits ok and functions. Only issue I had was the three main mounting screw holes appear to be a different thread pitch from the screws that were in the old unit. I already had the door apart, so ended up retapping to the new pitch to get it to work. If you want an easier installation experience, maybe consider ordering mounting screws to fit this new unit at the same time.

Very please with this part. The seller responded right away with my request to get it in the mail ASAP because I wanted to get this part in my car during my days off. The part is NOT OEM, but an after market product that works just as well! I have owned number of BMW cars and I find that some of the after market part are better than OEM, so don't be concerned. Why spend almost $200 from the dealer. The feedback I have received from some of the other buyers tells me that they were pleased with their purchase too, thus giving me the additional confidence with this purchase. There is a slight difference between this part and my OEM I removed. Be prepared to be challenged removing the original before installing this replacement. The slight difference did not prevent me from being able to get it to fit, but I was patient and you will have to be too. There are plenty of good DIY comments about the installs. Good luck!

I bought this lock for my 2013 BMW 335i. I was a little skeptical about this part because of the low price, but everything worked out well. The part doesn't come in OEM BMW packaging, but it looks and performs the same as the original part. It is probably made by the same OEM manufacturer for BMW. Took me about an hour to swap out the door lock.

Exactly as advertised. This part looks exactly like the one removed. Works just as it should. Moderate install because of the need to be careful with the door panel and tight space. You really almost need 2 hands to work the piece around in the door to remove and replace the cabling for the pulls. Be patient and get it positioned correctly to remove it from the door. There is no need to take the window regulator support loose. When you get it turned correctly it will roll out around the regulator support. Install obviously in reverse. You may have to take a little time to adjust the catch on the door frame ( it may or may not be needed, in my case it was but very little). Very good alternative to buying from the dealer with the considerable markup.

1.0 out of 5 stars My local BMW dealer told these parts are not OEM

Reviewed in Canada on November 26, 2020

Company sent me a defective door lock actuator. They wouldn’t accept a refund until I took my car to the shop and had it inspected and had the shop write up a work order proving it was defective. It wasted about half a day of my time to try install the defective part, and in the end I had to take it to the dealer and have it replaced. They asked me where I got it and told me it was not OEM, as advertised. It’s been two months since the company got their product back and I still don’t have a refund.
My advice would be to steer clear of this place. They are not selling genuine OEM parts.

So far so good! The install was a huge pain in the a... but I saved myself $300 by doing it myself. This is a good direct replacement to the OEM one. My gf is super happy I don't have to lean over to open the door for her now.. so bonus stars!

Looks like the original but it didn't have any BMW part number sticker on it and it didn't come in a BMW parts box... most certainly made by the same manufacturer who handles their OEM, but still not a BMW packaged part.

Update 05/05/2016 As I was installing the actuator, I realized that the three mounting holes weren't tapped! So I had to go out and purchase a tapping tool kit to make threads in order to install it. I can only recommend that you deal with your local BMW dealer for your needs and stick with original boxed parts.
