4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad

I like the looks with the interior of the car. Not quite sure as to why it will not release on its own though. When I pull up on the E-brake to engage it, when I release it the button itself does not release. I have to push it back out for it to be used again. If u do not do this the brake will go up and right back down. Something is not engaging it. If the piece would release on its own I would have given it 5 stars across the board.

Works and looks as expected. Fit my 15 WRX no problem

Threads are a bit too deep. So it doesn't screw in all the way, leaving it a little loose to be functional. If tightened all the way ebrake doesn't really work as button cannot be depressed. For that, it gets 4 stars. Otherwise looks nice and is cheaper than other options.

Easy 5 minute install and works perfectly on my old Subaru

Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 27, 2019

This has a much nicer and chunkier feel to it than the stock button and goes REALLY well with the leather handbrake cover that matches the leather and stitching of the wheel. It simply screws onto a post the old button screws off of. I couldn't get the old one out without mangling it though, bc it's that cheap silver coated soft plastic.

BUT I discovered this has a handy hidden security feature. IF you screw it in too far you can't push it in far enough to release the e-brake. So just by giving this a few twists, you can add ANOTHER layer of security against vehicle thieves. And it really would baffle them in the heat of the moment.

Beyond being able to screw it in TOO far, you can also choose how much it sits in or sticks out of the handle just by how much you want to screw it on. This does mean that it freely twists if you mess with it while driving around but you can always add some loctite if you MUST have it be still.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well so far.

Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on March 30, 2021

Works well so far. It feels good, not like the cheep plastic one from the factory.

Installing tips:
-Put the car into 3rd gear.
-Place a 2x4, or peaces of wood wrapped in a cloth between the dash and upper lip of the lockout head.
-Use an old drill bit and hammer, to hammer the pin half way out. Getting it started is the hardest part.
-Remove the blocks of wood
-Hold the leaver to re-leave the strain on the gear box and continue to hammer out the pin until it falls out.
-Leave the drill bit in the hole.
-Shift into reverse (This stops anything from dropping down once the drill bit is removed)
-Remove bit and old lockout.
-Install new lockout and old pin (you may need to use the drill bit again to line up the hole with the pin)
-tap the pin in a little bit so that nothing falls down and remove the bit.
-shift into 3rd and place blocks of wood back like before.
-hammer the pin flush with the lockout (use a cloth so to not scratch anything)
-use the pointy part of the drill bit this time to punch it in 3-4mm.
-install boot use penetrating oil to help it slide over the bottom and a small screw driver.
-Install shift knob
-done and enjoy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not Fit 2013 Scion FRS

Product description says that it is for 2013 scion FRS, but it doesn’t fit at all. Shifter hole is too small, and inner part is too short, so it doesn’t even engage the lockout.

What is a reverse lockout shift knob?

The reverse lockout feature on your car's transmission is a perfect example. Essentially, this is a setup that makes it impossible to shift into reverse if the car is moving forward at more than a specific speed.

What is a reverse lockout automatic?

Your car has a reverse lockout so you cannot accidentally shift to Reverse from Neutral or any other driving position when the vehicle speed exceeds 7 — 9 mph (12 — 14 km/h). If you cannot shift to Reverse when the car is stopped, press the brake pedal and slowly shift to Neutral then to Reverse.
