These are the BEST marinated pork chops we’ve ever grilled!  There are only two ingredients in our Farmhouse Pork Chop Marinade – Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce.  

The combination is SO good and EASY that we make these tender pork chops on the grill all of the time!

Italian Dressing Pork Chops

Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce combined are the BEST farmhouse pork chop marinade EVER!  I use 3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce per cup of Italian dressing.

People tell me all of the time how they marinate chicken in Italian dressing, but they’ve never thought to marinate pork chops.  Well the time is here to grill these excellent Italian dressing pork chops! This is one of our farmhouse favorite recipes!

My family loves grabbing half of a pork loin when they are on sale at the grocery store.  Sometimes I’ll ask the butcher to slice it into 3/4″ or 1″ think pork chops and sometimes I’ll slice it up at home.  Buying a pork loin is typically cheaper than buying a pack of pork chops and it’s all the same thing!

We do love a good bone-in pork chop, so we use this marinade on both boneless and bone-in pork chops! When we have extra pork chops we like to make Oven Baked Pork Chops or Creamy Pork Chop Casserole.

What is the BEST Pork Chop Marinade for Grilling?

Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce make the best pork chop marinade for grilling because the ingredients are simple and easy to keep on hand.

Our family also enjoys this marinade without soy sauce, so it’s not quite as salty as some other marinades.  When we crave a citrus marinade with soy sauce Farmhouse Meat Marinade is a favorite!

If the weather changes unexpectedly we have made these pork chops in a skillet too.  We prefer the flavor of grilled chops whenever possible!

Even though both of our families raise pigs we still buy a good bit of our pork at the grocery store.  We know that farmers like us raise the pork that’s sold at bigger grocery stores and we like supporting other farmers in the region or the United States.

How Long Should I Marinate Pork Chops?

Pork chops taste best and hold the most flavor when marinated for 12 to 24 hours.  I recommend marinating pork chops in Italian dressing and Worcestershire sauce overnight in the refrigerator in a zip lock bag.  Rotate or turn the bag once or twice to ensure that all sides of the pork chops can soak up the delicious flavors in the marinade.

The minimum time to marinate pork chops is 20 minutes, but know that there will only be a light flavor.

How to Marinate Pork Chops

Use gallon size zip lock bags to marinate the pork chops in the refrigerator.  Truth be told I rarely measure the marinade ingredients.  I just open the bag and pour some dressing and Worchestire sauce in there.

Zip the bag and mix all of the ingredients together and move along to the next task of the day.  Marinating meat is truly that easy.  Which is exactly why we like to make our own homemade marinade and save money over buying pre-marinated meat.

Marinating pork chops is Italian dressing alone tastes great too!  It is important that marinade touch as many surfaces of the pork chops as possible.  The meat can only absorb the flavor that it is exposed to, so if the chops are stacked right next to each other they will not be exposed to the delicious marinade.

How Long to Grill Pork Chops

Pork chops should only be grilled for 8 to 12 minutes.  When a meat thermometer reads 145 degrees Fahrenheit the pork chops are perfectly prepared!

When pork chops are done cooking remove from the heat and cover with foil until ready to serve.

Tips for Grilling Pork Chops on a Gas Grill

  • Do NOT overcook the pork!!!
  • Marinate pork chops overnight for maximum flavor
  • Set meat out of the refrigerator for 20 minutes before grilling to help knock the chill off
  • Get your grill hot prior to placing chops on the grill
  • Do NOT overcook the pork!!!
  • Use a meat thermometer and do NOT go past an internal temperature of 145°F.
  • Let the meat rest for three minutes before cutting
  • Only flip each pork chop once
  • Enjoy the pork chops with a blush of pink in the center
  • We love tossing vegetables in the grill basket to cook along with our pork chops

A meat thermometer is THE secret ingredient in our kitchen!  I’ve heard many experts including food scientists talking about cooking meat and they always use meat thermometers!

Several methods have been tried, but using a meat thermometer is the only TRUE way to know when dinner is ready.  Any other way is just a guess.  When I’m trying to make great grilled meat I don’t want a guess to determine the success of my meal.

Easy pork chop marinade without soy sauce

  • 4 boneless pork chops about 3/4 inch thick
  • 1 cup Italian dressing
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • Place all ingredients in a self-sealing bag; seal bag and place in refrigerator for at least 20 minutes – or as long as overnight.

  • Remove chops from bag, discarding marinade, and grill over a medium-hot fire, turning once, until just done, about 7-10 minutes total cooking time.  Internal temperature should read 145°Fahrenheit on a meat thermometer.  

  • Allow pork chops to rest for three minutes before serving.

What to soak pork in to make it tender?

You can also use a meat tenderizer or any acidic fruit juices like lime, lemon, or pineapple juice. The acid penetrates the meat and breaks down the protein which tenderizes the pork chops. How long should I marinate pork chops? For ½ inch thick pork chops, I recommend a minimum of 45 minutes to overnight.

Why do you soak pork chops in vinegar?

The citrus and vinegar in the brine tenderize the pork, leaving you with a more succulent bite of the other white meat. Without a brine, the pork chops are more likely to taste bland and have a greater chance of drying out, especially if they are a leaner cut like tenderloin or boneless loin chops.

What does soaking pork chops in milk do?

Milk is more effective in tenderizing meat than other marinades. The milk enzymes break the proteins, softening the fibers and making the meat more tender. And the milk-tenderized pork chops will remain juicier, the risk of them drying out during cooking reduces.
