Sw MN Have a 8100 that I changed oil this spring and planted corn and beans with it and put 50 hours on it. Normally I use it to spray but had it customed applied this year. I will put the tractor on the grain cart and use it for corn and then chop stalks with it this fall. How often should I change the oil on that tractor. Thanks in advance. bharzman
North Central Kansas I personally try for every 100 hours oil and filter Jd7730
SE MN It depends a bit on what oil you run and the interval recommended with that oil, but most even cheaper oils would allow the tractor to run 150-200 hours on an oil change. You should be able to run at least a year based on what you say about tractor hours and use. However, if you are running expensive synthetic oil that recommends higher hours, like 300 or more, then you could possibly run two years or just go with the hours and change accordingly. However, two years is plenty of time for an interval and I wouldn't run longer than that even if the hours are low. Lauritsenag
The Internet If the oil meets the spec set by the manufacturer then use their oil change interval. Mine is on 500 hour engine oil changes. sdan27

New stuff is gettibg into the 600hr interval, at 100hrs you are just draining money out of the engine and pouring it back in. inotill
Cenpeco for every motor I have. Zero oil usage throughout change intervals. Grade III dino oil, low sulfur, parafin base, not hydrocracked group II asphalt junk. I'm done with group II formulations. Cant bring myself to dump that poison in anything anymore, API approved or not. No reason to go to group IV in anything Ive got other than the wifes ride that calls for DEXOS. Quit using mobil 1 dexos and switched to Cenpeco 5W30 and the thing quit using oil. This is on a 2015 Chevy 4 cylinder, 55000 miles now. Oil remains clearer and no usage after the switch. Slightly more money than walmart oil. $4.00/quart for mobil 1 vs. $5.35/quart for Cenpeco, its worth it to me. 15W-40 usually $3-4ish/quart where ever you go (used to use Countrymark oil exclusively, now I pay $4.60/quart for the Cenpeco and know I'm getting a better product. iseedit
dgramenz - 7/9/2017 13:27 Agree 110%. But I would change it once annually if you don't put that many hours on in a year. You'll get any moisture or contaminants out of the system that way, rather than letting them sit and work on the bearings while in storage. At least once a yr to get condensation. ..... spring before work tedbear
Southern Minnesota This is on an Eagle 9200 which was a Wal-Mart tractor with a 60 series Detroit. It has close to 1,000,000 miles on it. Poor Farm Inc
Western South Dakota Use a high quality oil that meets mfg specs then run out to oem recommended change interval, take an oil sample and change oil. Send oil sample in to lab for analysis (I use blackstone labs) to understand where u are at with respect to condemning limits. For next oil change, either back off or extend interval, depending on previous sample results, repeating in maybe 50 hr increments until you determine the appropriate oil change interval for that engine in your specific application. This will probably end up saving you time/money and give confidence that you are doing appropriate service. My 2centsYou could end up between 100-500 hour service interval depending on fuel quality, engine and application. Hackel
SENE Another common sense is watch the air filter's ,just as important as oil and oil filters jd4930

Ontario once a year. tractors that just sit and rarely get used i'll let go 2 years farmdude
my JD has a 500 hr interval with the plus 50 oil but I didn't like how the oil looked like after that many hours. I went back to generic 15W40 (meeting the specs) and 250-300 hours. SpringBrookFarm
Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska Only four of them make any sense at all. Those are the four that talked about oil analysis. Use it as a tool to tell you when you need to change oils. Not only that, but it will tell you if a problem is pending or has developed with your engine and other components of your tractor. Pay attention to all oils in your tractor, not just engine oil. I don't know how many will offer free oil analysis with their lubes. I do know Archer does. Use our oil, we'll provide free analysis. All you have to do is pay the postage, collect the sample and fill out the information sheet. We even provide the sample kit! DanofWI
53590 What ever manual says or uoa .... When switched to synthetic it was scary how many hours oil is good for with today. Skid loader gets used 3 hours a day so at operating temp for a while every day and uoa came back with 40% oil life remaining at 500 hours no make up oil. northernsand
Ontario tedbear - 7/9/2017 14:47 Just changing oil in my farm truck today. I'm with the once year whether it needs or not school of thought. I noticed that I only had 2000 miles on it since last July. Probably foolish but I did it anyway and am wearing part of the used oil at the moment. Every year I say I'm too old for this. Every year I think I will be more careful this year but the filters still get me. This is on an Eagle 9200 which was a Wal-Mart tractor with a 60 series Detroit. It has close to 1,000,000 miles on it. Throw a pan under filters and use a punch, put a hole in bottom and drain that way. No mess. Survivor

ontario Would say the oil change intervals in the manual. I run a old Allis Chalmers 7040 I change around 100-150. I check the level often and watch my oil pressure gauge... engines get ruined by running out of oil much quicker than going a bit longer on an oil change. Dan Michigan

New Brunswick, Canada No one mentioned this but 200 hour changes on an old mechanical tach isn't the same as 200 hours on a modern electric hour meter. The old loader tractor we had would take forever to rack up 200 hours idling around the yard work. Newer tractor puts on easily double the hours due to the difference in hour meter. We do 200 to 600 hour changes based on the manual recommendations. The only one I don't follow is the little 50 hp kubota says 50 hours oil, 100 hours filter. In haying season it would have needed an oil change every week so it gets 200 hours between oil and filter. willamettefarmguy
yamhill county, oregon I try to do a oil change every 250 hours on all of our tractors and farm equipment, every 3000 miles for our older pickups, 5000 miles for our newer pickups, 10000 miles for the trucks, and once a year for our atv's. Everything gets 15w-40 Cenex superlube TMS.When should I change the oil in my Kubota tractor?Outline of Kubota Tractor Maintenance Schedule
After this initial check, you should change the engine oil and filters roughly every 200 hours, while the transmission fluid and hydraulic oil filters need attention only once every 300 hours after the first check.
How often should you change oil in a diesel tractor?Engine oil & filter: First change 50 hours, second at 200 hours, then every 200 hours after that. Transmission fluid change and hydrostatic oil filter cleaning: first change at 50 hours, second at 300 hours, then every 300 hours after that.
How often should you change engine oil in a tractor?A tractor oil change should be performed according to the hours specified in your machine's owner's manual or at least every six months. Even if the machine isn't used heavily, one of the main goals of an oil change is to remove contaminants from the motor.
What oil should I use in my Kubota diesel tractor?A: Kubota recommends oil with an API rating of CF or higher. If the synthetic oil meets those standards, it can be used in Kubota engines.
How long do Kubota engines last? The Tractor Brand
Kubota tractors, for example, tend to offer a higher-than-average lifespan of 4,500 to 5,500 hours.
Is Kubota oil full synthetic? What Oil Does Kubota Recommend? Kubota tractors (all tractors, for that matter) recommend using their manufactured brand oil instead of a competitor brand. Kubota recommends 10W-30 synthetic blend oil. So it's not as if Kubota is against the idea of using synthetic since their own recommended brand is a synthetic mix.
