Loukeris, MD About The ProgramSUNY Downstate’s Pathology residency program is resident-focused, meaning that residency education is a true priority for our faculty. Our faculty get to know each resident well and nurture their development. We have faculty in most subspecialty areas of pathology including Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, Chemical Pathology, Cytopathology, Dermatopathology, Forensic Pathology, Hematopathology, Medical Microbiology, Molecular Genetic Pathology, Neuropathology, and Perinatal Pathology. Prospective ApplicantsResidency candidates must be graduates of medical schools in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or graduates from a foreign medical school acceptable to the American Board of Pathology and hold an ECFMG certificate.

Located in the center of Brooklyn, New York City’s largest borough, we offer an unparalleled training experience in one of the busiest emergency departments in the country with active in-patient and out-patient services in a tertiary care center. The Emergency medicine residency is one of the largest residencies in the country with a national reputation and a focus on diversity, leadership, research, and clinical acumen. The Internal medicine department is one of the largest academic departments in the country with 13 academic training programs, a diverse faculty, and fellowships in all major subspecialties. We are looking for applicants to become part of our diverse residency program with an interest in serving our underserved community, leadership, and training in a fast paced clinically rich environment.
