Where is the transmission dipstick on a 2014 ford focus

The automatic transmission does not have a transmission fluid dipstick.

Have an authorized dealer check and change the transmission fluid at the correct service interval. Your transmission does not consume fluid. However, if the transmission slips, shifts slowly, or if you notice a sign of leaking fluid, contact an authorized dealer.

Do not use supplemental transmission fluid additives, treatments, or cleaning agents. The use of these materials may affect transmission operation and result in damage to internal transmission components.

Spec

NameSpec
Automatic transmission fluid (U.S. and Mexico): Motorcraft MERCON LV Automatic Transmission Fluid MERCON LV XT-10-QLVC WSS-M2C938-A
Automatic transmission fluid (Canada): Motorcraft MERCON LV Automatic Transmission Fluid MERCON LV CXT-10-LV12 WSS-M2C938-A
Manual transmission fluid: Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid XT-11-QDC WSS-M2C200-D2

Automatic transmissions that require MERCON LV transmission fluid should only use MERCON LV transmission fluid. The use of any other fluid may cause transmission damage.

Transmission fluid is one of the most important elements in the gearbox, which directly affects its life. Under normal conditions, the transmission fluid would not need to be changed for the life of the gearbox in your Ford Focus. In practice, however, the transmission fluid is not lifetime and it is worth taking care of its condition. At worst, a gearbox repair may be necessary.

Crazy newbie question, I know, but I do not see any dipstick to pull to check my transmission fluid. And I'm getting different stories about flushing the fluid vs. replacing it, and of course different prices from repair places.

My engine came from Ford Racing Parts, Zetec, in a 2001 ZX3.

What's the skinny on this? Thanks

Well if it's a auto, it should be right in the front near the air filter housing. if it's a manual trans then you dont have one.

Thanks. It's manual. So why no way to measure fluid?

they have a check plug instead. There really is no reason the fluid should get low unless you have a leak. Changing the fluid is very easy. On a manual you do not do a flush you do a drain and fill. basically pull the check plug first, then pull the drain plug, drain out fluid, put drain plug back in, and then fill it with 2qrts of manual trans fluid through the check plug. once the fluid starts to drip out of the check plug it's full. that's it.

Lower hole to drain, upper hole is the fill level.

Since the Forum is preventing me from PMing a Seller in buy-sell-trade, because I don't have enough posts, until I spam the Forum with useless post:

I wish they'd just give you a dipstick on manual. The cars are low to the ground & if you are having a clutch problem, you may not have a choice about where it is... but they certainly aren't likely to change this, now.

Woot! That's #3!

Automatic and manual transmission will consistently require positive fluids. Automatic transmission fluids are naturally thinner and are consistently red or green in color. Manual transmission fluid or gear oil is thicker due to additives and diverse compounds basic to lubricate the gearbox and diverse components. Manual transmissions have a higher friction environment due to the way gears are changed, thus the lubricant is positive.

Not only are the fluids alternative between manual and automatic transmissions but the level of heat the fluids experience is remarkably alternative. Automatic transmissions generate several more heat and thus the fluid in your transmission must be changed more commonly. If you don't change your 2014 Ford Focus transmission fluid, your transmission will have broken metal shavings and alternative corrosive material spread throughout the meaningful components of your 2014 Ford Focus.
