I have A 2003 dodge ram.

I went to auto zone and they pulled up the code for the bad sensor

The truck will start and run, But if you trun it off , It will take about 1 to 2 hrs to start again.

I need to know the location of this sensor.

Thanks

Downloading the manual is best as detailed above. Location of the Camshaft Position Sensor also depends what engine you have in your truck. If you still need help what motor do you have?

No, the oil filter is on the left side (drivers side.) The cam position sensor is under the right side (passenger side) cylinder head pointing straight down, just as slammed1 posted.

The Prob. I had was: :rck:

No I did not do any thing to the truck, It just started this the other day.

1 - I could start only if the engine was cold

2 - If it was hot I had 1 to 2 hrs before I could start it again

3 - If I steeped on the gas It would cut out. ( spit and sputter )

I found the Prob. by turning the key switch on and of 3 time and read the code ( P0344 ) CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.

Thank to all the Info I found on this site :gr_patrio :gr_patrio :gr_patrio

When I read the reply I ASSUMED he meant "oil filler" so I was hoping we were on the same page.

Glad you got the problem fixed, lets hope it was the right diagnosis.

I've got a buddy with a 4.7 truck who needs a cam sensor, is the sensor hard to get to? About how long did it take you?

I'm assuming the code will eventually clear itself?, Or is there a way to clear a code on these trucks without using a scan tool?

It cleared up by its self after 15 miles or so

What are the symptoms of a faulty camshaft sensor?

A glowing check engine light, stalling, poor acceleration and bad fuel mileage are all possible signs your camshaft position sensor may be failing. Gone are the days of carburetors and distributors, replaced by a variety of sensors that help a car's computer get the maximum performance out of the engine.

Where is camshaft sensor is Bank 1 sensor A?

The sensor is at the front right top of the engine beneath the large plastic engine cover. It is held on by a single T-30 torx bit machine screw. Please note that OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes, such as the code relied on to "advise" you, can NEVER be used to "directly" condemn parts.

What is the camshaft position sensor bank 2?

Replacement Bank 1 & 2 Camshaft Position Sensors Set of 2 - The camshaft position sensors determines the rotating position of the camshaft to regulate spark timing and fuel injector operation in sync with the crankshaft sensors.
