Can laser get rid of stretch marks

A form of scarring, stretch marks are the result of broken collagen fibres in the skin, resulting in poor quality, thin and hypo-pigmented skin. They commonly occur during rapid weight gain, pregnancy, or other instances where the skin is suddenly over-stretched.Similar to other scar treatments, the aim is to stimulate the skin at regular intervals to promote remodelling and strengthening of the poorly healed scar.

Infrared and visible red light is beamed on to the stretch marks. The treatment causes a reduction of the apparent scarring of the stretch marks, softening and flattening their appearance. A series of up to 20 sessions is required over several weeks in order to see a 20 to 60 percent improvement in appearance. Results are permanent, but follow-up maintenance treatments sometimes are necessary.

It is impossible to completely remove stretch marks naturally. However, there are some methods that can help to minimize the appearance of stretch marks and make them fade more quickly.

1. Over-The-Counter Creams

2. Aloe Vera

3. Hyaluronic Acid

4. Coconut Oil, Almond Oil

Other methods we can consider to reduce the appearance of stretch marks are topical creams, medical lasers and other medical devices.

Topical Creams

Retinoids known as Vitamin A contains retinol formation such as tretinoin that is shown to help increase the production of collagen and elastin fibers which can help to reduce the overall appearance of stretch marks.

Other formulations such as glycolic acid in a combination of ascorbic acid which is Vitamin C is known to also help with reducing the appearance of stretch marks. However, as some of these topical creams may cause side effects, there has to be prescribed by your physician.

Medical Lasers

One of the treatments we use is the fractional Erbium Yag laser. This laser energy is able to deliver gently and generate heat underneath the skin without injuring the skin. It starts the process of using the controlled thermal injury to the deeper layers of the skin. It then stimulates production by initiating skin remodeling and skin tightening. One of the reasons why we prefer to use Erbium Yag laser as compared to CO2 lasers is because it produces less downtime and has lower risk of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Patient should expect to have minimal downtime over the treated area - redness, swelling and flaking over the next few days. stretch mark removal singapor

For immature stretch marks, we use yellow lasers or the long pulsed Nd Yag laser to reduce the appearance of red and purplish stretch marks. This treatment can help to reduce the blood vessels as well as the itch associated with the stretch marks.

Radio Frequency Devices

We approach stretch marks like how we approach scarring. We use small needles to gently puncture your skin and deliver heat energy to the skin without hurting the skin. As the skin heals, the body will began to stimulate collagen production by initiating skin remodeling and skin tightening in the affected area. We have two ablative radiofrequency devices; Puro and Intensif.

The Puro RF treatment stimulates collagen and elastic fiber production by running through an electric current on the affected area. This thermal energy reduces the laxity in the skin by inducing neocollagensis. While Intensif treatment uses an RF micro needling method to emit RF energy through the insulated needles. As the needles are longer, it reaches to the deeper. layer of the skin. Both treatment is suitable for treating stretch marks.

A detailed consultation is required to provide a suitable treatment plan for your stretch mark concerns.

The EstheClinic effect

Our RF&LED Stretch Marks Reduction procedure is totally painless, non-invasive and requires no downtime. All types of stretch marks can be treated with this method. Typically, we can improve 50% to 80% the most recent stretch marks, while older scars can be improved by 40% to 70%. The number of sessions required will be determined according to the condition of your skin.

You will see a noticeable improvement after the first session. Subsequently, stretch marks will fade gradually. As skin cells regenerate, stretch marks will re-pigment, and their appearance will be reduced. The skin will lose that unsightly ‘marbled’ appearance and regain its elasticity.

How does it work?

Our RF&LED Stretch Marks Reduction treatment combines 3 technologies:

1. Thermo-controlled Radiofrequency is a non-invasive procedure to induce collagen stimulation. By heating the skin, Radiofrequency helps collagen regain its original structure, and causes the proliferation of the fibroblasts. Skin becomes tighter, firmer and smoother, while the redness of recent stretch marks disappears. Swelling of the outer edges of the stretch marks is reduced, and they gain a fuller, smoother appearance.

2. Le DermaBooster XL and its 1,040 titanium micro-needles act as a collagen booster deep down in the skin. It is extremely effective for treating stretch marks, as it promotes a wound-healing process, flooding collagen and elastin to the scars to promote skin renewal and regeneration.

3. LED Photomodulation uses a cold monochromatic light emitted by the LED, which is a non-invasive and painless. Photomodulation is a pioneering approach to photo-activating the fibroblasts without thermal effect for the purpose of collagen stimulation. LED Photomodulation aids the breakdown of denser, sub-dermal scarring while stimulating superficial circulation, reducing flaccidity and thickening the skin to combat the paper-like characteristics of stretch marks. It also assists in softening and flattening the stretch marks.

How quickly will I see results?

All types of stretch mark can be treated with our procedure. Typically, you’ll see a 50% to 80% improvement in recent stretch marks. Older scars can be improved by 40% to 60%.
