How to Change Your Name on Gmail

For whatever reasons you may want something different to appear for your recipient once you hit “send” in Gmail, then you have to edit your Google profile. Here are steps showing how to change your Gmail name or edit Google profile:

Step 1: Click on the Settings icon on the top right and select Settings
Step 2: Select Accounts tab and then focus on “Send mail as”. While on that section, click on the “edit information” link.
Step 3: Enter your preferred, new name in the box, select the radio button for the new name and click save. There you go.

Your takeaway: When you compose and send your new email, your recipient will see your new name. However, this change doesn’t change your original Google profile. What it means is that when you hover cards for the email, Google will betray you by showing your real name on your profile.

If you are using Yahoo!, here are the steps you need to follow to change the name displayed in the “From” field of the emails you send to other people.

Step 1: Click on the gear icon on the top-right corner of the screen and then click Settings option.

Step 2: On the left side of the Settings, a pop-up window is the Accounts section(as shown below). Click on it.

Step 3: Click on the Your name field. To change your existing name, delete everything that you don’t want and write the name that you want your recipients to see.

Your takeaway: The steps discussed above only apply to emails you send through Yahoo! Mail in your web-based browser. In cases where your Yahoo account is set up on your cell phone(apps and devices) then you need to change the names on those devices too.

How to Change Your Name on Outlook

Unlike Yahoo! Mail and Gmail, Outlook requires your first and last name. If you want to change the name that your recipient will see, here is how you can go about editing your profile:

Step 1: Click the Setting icon and select More mail settings.

Step 2: Under Managing your account section, head over to the Account details section.
Step 3: Click “Edit display name” under the Account summary section, delete what you have there and enter your new name.
Step 4: Enter a new first and last name, then click Save. Unlike Gmail and Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com requires a first and last name.

Change Display Name in Outlook 2013

If let’s say you made a mistake when registering your names on Outlook 2013, you can correct that by following the procedure below:

Step 1: Start your Outlook 2013.
Step 2: Then check the File tab at the top-left corner of the window.

Step 3: Check Account Setting at the center of the window and then choose Account Setting again.

Step 4: While at it, click account from the list and choose email and Change button at the center.

Step 5: Enter your new name into the Your Name field and click the Next button at the bottom of the window.

Microsoft Exchange Accounts

If you are a business user on Microsoft Exchange accounts, you might not have rights to access their “from” names. If you want to change your names, you might want to contact the administrator to change the info for you.

How to Change the Email Sender Name on iPhone and iPads

Sometimes there is some confusion when it comes to iPhones and iPads. You might send the email only to appear to the recipient as “from work” and not from a specific contact. To avoid that confusion, here is how you can change the “from” name:

Step 1: Click the Settings icon and select the Mails, Contacts, Calendars option (See below)
