4.0 out of 5 starsGreat Machine; Not impressed with TurboBrush

Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 26, 2011

I purchased this unit to use primarily for automotive purposes. So far, I have only used it on the carpet, but not the seats. I really like the heater feature as it really does help remove dirt and oil stains from the carpet. I'm not very impressed with the TurboBrush attachment though. Yes it does spin, but not very quickly at all. I would have liked to have seen it spin faster, but I also realize that the speed is limited to the suction of the machine. I have tried 4 different pre-treat cleaners (I have not yet tried the Bissell one though) all of which have foamed up tremendously when sucked up by the machine. This is a very bad thing for the machine as the foam fills the catch reservoir quickly causing the dirty water to spill into the overflow hole and out the bottom of the machine, dropping the dirty water out and possibly back onto what you just got it out of. I have yet to try the Bissell pre-treat, but I'm hoping that it doesn't foam up when sucked up. I am very impressed with the suction of the machine when using the 4" attachment with the stationary brushes. The technique I use is first and foremost vacuum the area with a vacuum cleaner to get everything out of the way. Spray an area with the hot water (holding the 4" attachment above the carpet as to not suck up any of it), use a stiff bristle brush (cost me $5 at a local store) to scrub the carpet in multiple directions, suck up all the dirt and water you can with the 4" attachment. After the worst is out, I go forward with the 4" attachment while squeezing the trigger, leaving a trail of hot water behind me. Then, pull the attachment right back over it. It seems that the added heat and short period of having it on the carpet, gets out the dirt even more. When I'm all done with the machine, I put some hot water in a small container and suck it up. I feel this cleans out the attachment itself, the hose, the water way in the machine, and the catch container too. Then, I take the attachment and both water containers and rinse them out in the sink. Once everything is clean again, I leave it all apart so that they can dry out. Overall, I am very happy with the machine, but I wish I would have bought the model with the crevice tool rather than the TurboBrush.
