The pump and reservoir sit on the front driver's side of the motor and consist of the pump, drive pulley and reservoir. The reservoir has a screw-on cap that is clearly marked to indicate that it is power steering fluid. If you ever need to add fluid to the system, be sure to only use a Jeep-recommended fluid in the system. Show
Step 1Open the hood of your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Locate the power steering pump and reservoir on the front driver's side of the engine. Step 2Wipe the cap and area around it with a clean rag or paper towel. This will keep dirt out of the system, when you open the cap, as well as keeping some of the dirt and grease off your hands. Step 3Remove the cover from the power steering reservoir by turning it counterclockwise. Lift straight up on the cover to lift the cover and dip stick out of the reservoir. Step 4Note the fluid level on the dip stick. There are several marks indicating "Add" as well as a mark for "Full." If the level is at or below the "Add" mark, you will need to add a small amount of fluid to the system. Step 5Replace the cap onto the reservoir and turn it clockwise to tighten it. Close the hood of the Jeep, making sure it is latched securely. References
